After graduating with a degree in biology Justin worked for several government agencies where he was tasked with finding rare and endangered species for scientific research.  Seven years ago he decided to use those skills for wildlife filmmaking.  At home in remote locations he loves life in the field.
Shelley Smith
Production assistant
Originally an artist and fashion designer, Shelley began working with Drill Films in 2015 on Bioko Island as a production assistant.  Shelley tracks filming subjects through dense habitat and is at home in primitive settings.
Kristy Bishop
Production assistant
Not only a production assistant to drill films, Kristy Bishop is also a full time artist working with natural dyes and textiles.  While in the field, Kristy manages logistics, personnel and also cooking.
Kyle Lawing
Logistical coordinator
Originally a geologist Kyle has come to work with Drill Films as our logistical coordinator. As an avid backpacker Kyle knows what it takes to get people and gear deep into the field.  Kyle is currently doing a through-hike of the Appalachian trail and holds the record for most eggs...
Tania Escobar
Camera Assistant
Tania Escobar is a Mexican-based freelance filmmaker, editor and video cinematographer specializing in natural history and documentary productions. She has a MA in Wildlife Documentary Production and works actively with different organizations producing conservation films and stories.  Tania has been working with Drill Films since 2014.
