This is not glamping. This tour is intended for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts with backcountry experience who want to raise awareness for biodiversity and endangered species. We’ll track and photograph wildlife using the same fieldcraft methods I’ve developed for BBC and National Geographic, without disturbing their natural behavior.
From November until March we’ll be deep inside one of Africa’s last untouched biodiversity hotspots, home to 11 species of primates, 4 species of nesting sea turtles, and over 200 species of birds. With a little luck, we’ll see drills, red colobus, turacos, picathartes, and leatherbacks.
We’re fighting to save the drill from extinction, and we need all the help we can get. Each tour provides sustainable income for a number of us working in the reserve, and gives endangered primates more passive protection from hunting. Photographers who want to spread awareness and who are looking for an adventure are encouraged to check our calendar and request a quote. Pricing depends on group size, dates, and locations.
Your presence supports local employment and aligns with conservation stakeholders working on the frontlines. I believe ecotourism, when done right, can have enormous impact on preserving biodiversity. If you’re interested in exploring the wildlife of Equatorial Guinea, let’s work together to make the drills of Bioko a conservation success story.
